Spotlight Stage and Songwriting Workshop

The Backyard betties were invited back down to the National Women's Music Festival in Wisconsin for a full stage show on the Spotlight Stage. We also hosted a songwriting worksop that we co-wrote a song and then performed it at the open mic with some of the workshop participants.

The Backyard Betties took part in the International Folk Alliance in Feb 2024 in Kansas City as part of the Alberta Room. They took part in private showcases in the Rainbow room and Heartland room and got interviewed on Tasty Brew KKFI 90.1FM Radio.
National Women's Music Festival 2023 - Madison Wisconsin

The Backyard betties were invited down to the National Women's Music Festival to showcase as an emerging artist. The adventure was very successful and they absolutely loved us!! We met a whole new "Family" of amazing women.

YYC Music Awards Nominations 2023

Just leave has received a YYC Music Award for Folk Recording of the year! This is the second year in a row that Nancy has appeared in this category. Nancy also received a nomination for Industry person of the year for her work on the Write On! Songwriting Experience program in collaboration with Calgary Folk Club, Gallery House Concerts and Bow Valley Music Society. We are launching our 2023-24 this September and Write On! applications are open until July 31, 2023.
Edinburgh Folk Club - People's Choice for Nancy

Nancy has been busy during her trip over to Scotland performing at open mics and even dropped into the Edinburgh Folk Club 47th Annual Songwriting competition. She won the People's Choice Award. Nancy sang a heartfelt song called "Not Good For Me" which if you’ve not heard this one, it will be a new feature at her summer gigs this year.
